Bell & Ross embodies the symbiotic relationship that the military and fashion industry share. Since 1992, the France-based watchmaker has been crafting expertly made watches that draw inspiration from WWI and WWII timepieces. Using classic flight watches as their guiding light, the company released its instantly popular sports watch the BR 03-92 Horolum in 2017, which featured an intense green C5 Super-LumiNova reminiscent of the lighting used to light airport runways at night. Four years after its resounding success, Bell & Ross looks to repeat history with the release of a limited-edition BR 05 Horolum.
The sporty-chic BR 05 Horolum is designed for the urban watch lover. Its design was inspired by the minerality of concrete and the stripping down of contemporary architecture, which is evident by its matte gray dial. Its lines and finish draw on contemporary architecture to pay homage to the minimalist and technical forms of modern buildings. While similar to the BR 03-92 Horolum that inspired it, the BR 05 Horolum features rounded corners for a more elegant and mainstream silhouette and a very of-the-moment integrated bracelet. Of course, being a Bell & Ross watch, the BR 05 retains the brand’s iconic “circle in a square” case, with the usual screws in the four corners. Moreover, the BR 05 Horolum features a bead-blasted steel construction for its case and bracelet and Super-LumiNova C5-covered hands and indices that are the hallmark of the Horolum series. The use of Super-LumiNova C5, the most powerful photoluminescent coating in the industry, allows the BR 05 Horolum to be highly legible in dark settings.
The watch is powered by the automatic caliber BR-CAL.321 movement and boasts a water resistance of 100 meters. Bell & Ross is limiting the production of the BR 05 Horolum to 250 pieces with a retail price of $5,400.
