Bell & Ross has spent three decades shrinking aircraft cockpit instruments down to wrist size. So when we saw the email for a Bell & Ross watch taking a quick detour into space, it wasn’t too surprising this time around. Back in 2025, the brand released the BR-03 Astro, which was a handless oddball that parked a 3D Earth in the middle of the dial. Now, just a year later, the Franco-Swiss outfit is going back up with the new BR-03 Space Mission.

Lose the Hands, Keep the Plot
Like the Astro before it, the Space Mission ditches conventional hands entirely. A transparent disc printed with the Earth and Moon rotates once every 12 hours, with the Moon calling out the hours. All of this while a tiny spaceplane sweeps the dial to mark the minutes with its nose.

Behind it all sits a black aventurine plate, a glittering glass that does a shockingly good impression of deep space. There’s even a little red dot standing in for Mars.

Where the Astro juggled three orbiting bodies around a centered Earth, this one pares the scene down to a true two-hander. It’s still the same trick being used here though. The picture on your wrist changes every single minute.

That Spacecraft Is the Real Deal
Now, the part we love. The minute hand isn’t some sci-fi doodle. It’s actually the Vortex, which is a reusable spaceplane Dassault Aviation is actually developing with backing from the European Space Agency and the French Armed Forces.

The craft is designed to launch into orbit and come home on a runway like any other aircraft, and full-scale versions are targeted for the 2030s.

Familiar Hardware Under the Theatrics
All that space inspiration lives inside the usual 41mm micro-blasted black ceramic square, but this time around with a trim 10.6mm thickness paired with 100m of water resistance. Inside beats the BR-CAL.325, an automatic built on Sellita’s SW330 with a 54-hour power reserve.
Each watch also ships with two black straps including one rubber and one synthetic fabric.
