Autodromo Brings Back Its Vallelunga Watch for Its 10th Anniversary

Over the last decade, Autodromo has become a favorite in the world of horology for its beautiful racing-inspired timepieces, such as the Stradale and Group B watches. It’s also done well with its popular racing gloves and variety of automotive-related accessories. Now, the Vallelunga — one of the New York-based company’s very first pieces, which hasn’t seen the light of day in a few years — is getting reimagined and reissued for the launch collection’s 10th anniversary.

Named after the Italian race track used for the Rome Grand Prix throughout the 1960s, the Vallelunga re-release from Autodromo is made to look like an old racing tachometer, with ten hash marks between each hour marker and a gap between the 4 and 6 o’clock positions. The twelve markers from 3 to 4 o’clock are also in either orange or red, helping them stand out from the sterile white or black dial markings that appear on the rest of the clock face. Three variants are released as part of this new line, with either a black, gray, or white dial, each with a channeled black leather strap. The gray version especially is made for enhanced visibility, sporting an orange second hand and orange markers on the “upper end” of the tachometer.

For this reissue, Autodromo has made some mechanical and cosmetic updates. Shrinking down the case size from 42mm to 40mm, the watch has also swapped movements. Where the original release sported a quartz movement, this new edition runs on a Miyota 8315 automatic with a date complication. The case is made of 316L stainless steel, has 50m of water resistance, and sports a domed sapphire crystal.

Despite the racing homages paid by the watch, the Vallelunga 10th Anniversary edition can still adequately be worn in either casual or dress occasions — though it’s undoubtedly most at-home behind the wheel. It’s currently available from Autodromo’s online store for $695.
