In the early ‘90s, Audemars Piguet wished to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its groundbreaking Royal Oak — the first-ever luxury sports watch — with a beefier, chronograph take on the iconic timepiece. The result was the Royal Oak Offshore, debuting in 1993 and becoming one of the most popular watches of the decade, kicking off the oversized watch trend at the time.
It’s now been 30 years since the Offshore’s launch, and AP being the celebratory brand that it is, has decided to make an all-black ceramic version for the first time ever. Sporting a black Petite Tapisserie dial with white gold hour markers and hands, the stunning timepiece also features the brand’s first fully monochrome dial.
In honor of the original 1993 model, the ceramic case sees the same 42mm diameter that was reverted to beginning with the 2021 comeback edition. Accompanied by an integrated ceramic bracelet and matching ceramic pushers, the new Selfwinding Chronograph also boasts a caliber 4404 flyback chrono movement with 70 hours of power reserve.
This all-black ceramic Royal Oak Offshore won’t come cheap. Priced at $84,400, the new timepiece can be purchased through Audemars Piguet.
