TAG Heuer Honors the 110th Indy 500 with a Limited Solar-Powered Formula 1 Watch

TAG Heuer has been the official timekeeper of the Indianapolis 500 since 2004, and last year, after a long stretch away, the brand also reclaimed its post as F1’s official timekeeper. Two of motorsport’s biggest flags now fly under the same roof in Switzerland.

So it makes sense that the brand’s latest Formula 1 Solargraph, the 13th watch born from its Indy 500 partnership, takes its name from one racing series and its identity from the other.

A Brickyard Tribute on F1 Bones

The 2025 reboot of the Formula 1 line marked a real shift for TAG Heuer’s entry-level motorsports watch. Out went the plastic cases that defined the series for decades, replaced by sandblasted steel, a TH-Polylight composite bezel, and a solar-charged movement.

This Indy 500 edition keeps that architecture and swaps the pastel colorways from earlier this year for something more ceremonial. The 38mm case wears a black TH-Polylight bezel with brown markings that pull directly from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s winged-wheel logo. At 10.2mm thick with a 42mm lug-to-lug span, this thing should sit comfortably on just about any wrist.

The same winged-wheel logo sits proudly above the 6 o’clock position, set against a black opalin surface with a brown flange and rhodium-plated indexes. A red lacquered seconds hand cuts across the dial for some nice contrast.

Flip it over and the caseback features an engraved version of the speedway logo against a brick pattern that nods to the “Yard of Bricks” finish line, with “ONE OF 1110” running along the bottom edge.

A Solar Quartz Worth Talking About

Let’s talk about what’s powering this timepiece. The TH50-00 is TAG’s solar quartz caliber, developed with La Joux-Perret, and it’s one of the better light-powered movements at this price. One minute of sun gets you a full day of running, and a full charge keeps things ticking for ten months in the dark.

The battery behind it is rated to last 15 years. Pair that with 100 meters of water resistance and a screw-down crown, and the Solargraph is a far more capable everyday wear than its grab-and-go ethos suggests.
