By now, we all know YETI. Founded in 2008, the Texas-based company is known for its ice chests and drinkware, especially its Rambler series of water bottles, which have found ubiquity despite being on the higher end of the market. Nevertheless, YETI keeps growing and evolving. Just this year, it debuted its first-ever coffee maker, putting its own spin on the age-old French press design. Now, it works its magic again with a piece of gear intended for consuming alcohol. Let’s talk about YETI’s first-ever liquor flask…

Why a Liquor Flask?

Admittedly, liquor flasks can feel a bit superfluous these days. With the modern drinker’s elevated methods of consuming fine spirits, why would he choose a metal, narrow-mouthed vessel over a Glencairn or old fashioned glass? Well, for one, durability. We don’t need to inform you that glassware breaks. And when you’re headed to certain locations, busting out a decanter with a rocks glass isn’t necessarily practical.

Flasks are great for camping and hiking but also classier occasions as well. There’s a level of discretion that comes with a narrow flask. If you’d like to opt out of the cheaper liquor options at a wedding — or if there are no liquor options at all — you can bring your favorite Scotch or bourbon along with you right in your pocket.

YETI Flask Basics

Standing 5.3” tall and 3.4” wide, the YETI Flask is pretty average in size. Like all of YETI’s drinkware, it’s built with kitchen-grade 18/8 stainless steel, featuring single-wall construction for reducing weight. Even still, the vessel weighs a good 6.4oz when empty. When full, it can hold up to 7oz of liquid. There’s also a twist-top lid which, true-to-brand, is leakproof so you don’t have to worry about your Four Roses making a mess inside your pocket.

Pouring whiskey into a flask can certainly be messy, but YETI includes a stainless steel funnel to help you out. As of right now, there are just four colorways available, plus two out-of-stock options (black and navy). However, knowing YETI, there will surely be more options to come. Aside from the classic-looking plain steel variant, the color versions are given a DuraCoat finish to help with grip and holding in colors. Also, while there aren’t any customization options available yet for the Flask, YETI urges us to “stay tuned.”

But Wait, There’s More…

Along with the Flask, YETI has also debuted a set of shot glasses. These are double-wall insulated, made with the same stainless steel (so you can call them shot metals instead) as the Flask, and can hold 1.7oz of liquid. Available in colorways to match the Flask, the Shot Glasses come in sets of four, which stack inside of an accompanying steel carrying case.
