Rewind to the late 1990s and Aston Martin was deep in its Project Vantage era. The brand was shaping the concept that would eventually become the Vanquish while the V12-powered DB7 Vantage was waiting in the wings. At that exact moment, several hundred miles north in Dufftown, Glenfiddich was filling a run of casks with no fanfare whatsoever. Twenty-eight years on, those parallel timelines have finally collided in the form of the Glenfiddich 28 Year Old, the newest release from the distillery’s ongoing Aston Martin partnership.
From Paddock to Package Store
Glenfiddich first linked up with the Aston Martin Formula One team at the Las Vegas Grand Prix in late 2024. Since then, they’ve gone all-in with a full global partnership announced at Monterey Car Week in August 2025.
A 65-year-old celebrating Aston’s landmark 1959 season ended up at Harrods, while a 48-year-old 1976 vintage debuted alongside the Valhalla with just 50 bottles worldwide. A 16-year-old F1 edition and a travel-retail 19 at least gave the rest of us something to pour.
The 28 fills the gap that lineup was begging for. It’s a proper age statement actually headed to US retailers nationwide.

Kinsman Stacks the Oak
Malt Master Brian Kinsman anchored the 28 in highly active casks, and the wood program reads just as dense as you’d expect here. The heart of the whisky started in American oak, then took a second stint in virgin American oak that stacks deep spice on top of vanilla sweetness.
From there, Kinsman layered in spirit from European oak hogsheads seasoned with Oloroso sherry for added texture and depth, while traditional ex-bourbon casks keep Glenfiddich’s signature orchard fruit in play. The whole thing lands at 43.7% ABV.
Official notes run from creamy toffee and vanilla shortcake on the nose to a soft, viscous palate of oak tannin balanced by vanilla. And the whole thing closes on a finish that leans hard into oak and tangy warming spice.

Dressed for the Podium
Aston Martin’s own design team had a direct hand in the presentation, trading your standard whisky-box for the marque’s signature Podium Green, copper accents, and Glenfiddich’s stag sitting front and center. The flowing forms are meant to convey depth and momentum (basically, the box looks fast while standing still).
Stefano Saporetti, Aston’s Director of Brand Diversification, even calls it a collector’s piece.
