Wuben’s X1Pro Is a 12,300-Lumen EDC Flashlight with a Built-In Cooling Fan

If you’ve spent any time in the flashlight space, you know all too well the high lumen claims flashlight brands love to stamp on their product pages and marketing collateral. And while those high-lumen counts aren’t necessarily false advertising, they don’t exactly paint the full picture either.

That high-lumen pocket rocket can hold its advertised output for about as long as it takes to sneeze. Thermal stepdown kicks in, firmware throttles everything back, and your 10,000-lumens quickly becomes 2,000 lumens within a very short period. Well, Wuben decided to take a different approach to the problem, outfitting their newly launched X1 Pro flashlight with a built-in cooling fan.

A Fan Inside a Flashlight (Yes, Really)

To be clear, active cooling fans do exist in the flashlight world, but they’re almost exclusively found in large search-and-rescue units, not something you’d slip into your pocket. The X1Pro’s detachable, waterproof fan sustains 3,000 lumens for 1.8 hours, which is a massive leap over the 90 seconds most passively cooled competitors manage before firmware forces a stepdown.

And to cover their bases, independent testing from ZeroAir confirmed sustained output hovering around 2,500 lumens in real-world use. The fan is also modular, so you can replace it down the line without sending the light back to Wuben.

Two Beams, One Body

The X1Pro runs five Cree XHP50.3 emitters: one domeless HI for a focused spot that throws over 400 meters (that’s four football fields), and four domed HD emitters pumping out a wide 125-degree flood. A physical three-position slider on the face toggles between spot, flood, or both channels firing simultaneously for 12,300 lumens of peak output.

No cycling through modes, and no memorizing click sequences. Just slide and go. The slider is mechanical too, so you get tactile feedback even with gloves on.

Not Your Dad’s Mag-Lite

The flat-tube form factor has quickly become a Wuben design characteristic. At roughly 138mm long and under 30mm thick, the X1Pro ditches the traditional cylinder for a rectangular profile that sits flat in a pocket, won’t roll off a table, and gives your palm four distinct edges to grip.

The light sports a CNC-machined aluminum body with a 1/4-inch threaded port for attachments, and includes a zinc alloy bike mount round out the mounting options.

Your Emergency Power Bank

Two user-replaceable 21700 Li-ion cells (4,800mAh each) sit behind a push-latch compartment and feed a bidirectional USB-C PD system: 30W in, 15W out. That 15W reverse charge is noteworthy as it’s enough to fast-charge a smartphone at wall-adapter speeds.

When the cells degrade after a few years, you swap them for about $20 instead of retiring the whole light. Wuben also designed the wrist tether to double as a USB-C charging cable, which is a nice touch.
