While there are countless brands to choose from, Western Digital has sat at the helm of making premium external drives for years. Having served as one of the space’s leading pioneers, its latest gadgets are clearly unlike few we’ve ever seen, each going to show how far the tech world has come. The tech manufacturer’s MyBook and MyBook Duo external drives are now available in a 22TB version and a 44TB capacity, respectively.
Starting with the lesser My Book model, the 22TB version offers all the traditional elements you’d expect when opening up one of these top-selling drives, starting with backup software to save all your prized files, memories, and more. Additionally, it offers built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption to ensure your private information remains private, thanks to provided password protection. While WD has offered 18TB models in the past, this latest upgrade tips the scales even more, proving they could raise the stakes again in no time.
Meanwhile, the new My Book Duo is where things get really interesting and really, well, big. The 44TB-equipped device is a significant upgrade from its 20TB-equipped option in 2017, which was WD’s most capable offering by a mile upon release. The newly bolstered driver offers the same level of protection and encryption you can expect from the smaller iteration and a pair of USB Type-A ports to tack on even more digital storage when necessary.
Both the standard My Book and My Book Duo external drives are available through Western Digital’s webshop starting from $600.
