As video games become more sophisticated and demanding of hardware, the displays that we enjoy them on need to follow suit. Samsung, over the last few years especially, has been making high-quality monitors and displays since the ‘70s and has recently been bolstering its video game-friendly offerings. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 was announced this past January at CES, and fans have been patiently waiting ever since (it even went on to win the Best of Innovation award at this year’s CES). Now, the Odyssey Neo G9 57” from Samsung has been unveiled, and it’s a dual UHD curved gaming monitor that’s built for immersive gaming.
The Odyssey Neo G9 57” monitor has a 240-hertz refresh rate with a resolution of 7,680 x 2,160, capable of a peak brightness reaching 1000 nits. This is all on a sizeable 57” screen with 1000R curvature and is designed to act like two 32” UHD monitors set side-by-side. As for performance, the AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and the 1ms gray-to-gray response time provide a smooth and lag-free gaming experience. An HDMI 2.1 and a USB hub are also built into the monitor, so you can connect your consoles without hassle.
The Samsung Odyssey Ark 55” will also be coming out along with the Neo G9 57”, and it’s an update on the original 55” 1000R curved gaming monitor, now with Cockpit Mode, which lets you turn the screen vertically and enjoy the multiple display options in a new way (with the ability to utilize up to 4 inputs at once thanks to Samsung Multi View).
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57” and Odyssey Ark 55″ will be hitting the States this October and retail for $2,499 when it drops. The Samsung Odyssey Ark 55″ will also come out in October, but there’s no official price at the time of writing.
