ROG Sets a New Standard with Its 500Hz Gaming Monitors

The gaming industry has never been hotter than it is right now. And with esports becoming more and more mainstream, gaming monitor companies have tried to find ways to adapt to the ever-changing landscape. Latency can be a big problem, especially when playing highly-competitive games where every millisecond matters. Hardware company ROG, ASUS’ gaming-focused offshoot, has been known to be at the forefront of the gaming industry, first with its first 240Hz display, the NVIDIA G-SYNC, back in 2017, and then the Swift 360Hz that came out in 2020.

Now, just two years later, ROG is announcing the new Swift 500Hz panel. What does that all mean? Essentially, Hertz is the unit of frequency in which your monitor can draw a new image each second. So, the 500Hz monitor has an image refresh rate of 500 times per second. That’s incredibly fast and necessary when playing super fast-paced or data-intensive games that benefit from these higher response times.

Last year, ROG’s Swift 360Hz became the official monitor for The International, the esport championship for the videogame Dota 2. Now, the 500Hz version will offer even more of a competitive advantage. The 24.1-inch monitor has an HD resolution of 1920×1080, utilizing Esports TN technology to achieve a 60% improvement in response time over standard panels. Moreover, the low input lag is due to NVIDIA’s Reflex Latency Analyzer which keeps gamers informed on their system’s latency measurements.

The new monitors will also be equipped with Vibrance mode, which provides more nuance and complexity in the screen’s colors to better detect an enemy’s position. Pricing and release date have yet to be announced, but you can learn more from ROG’s website.
