Even the least enthusiastic car guy will tell you they’d secretly love to sit behind the wheel of a racecar going over 200mph. However, the reality is, most of us will never get that chance, be it lack of opportunity or experience. This has led to Ian Callum‘s famed design house CALLUM tapping motorsports tech company Prodrive for a magnificent new product that thrills while looking beautiful in the process.
Prodrive’s Racing Simulator isn’t the first of its kind, but there’s never been a device that fits within your home’s aesthetic so seamlessly. When we think of racing simulators, our minds may go to the ones that fill up our local arcades. While those definitely have the fun factor, they miss on the authenticity of the experience. Prodrive’s expertise and racing pedigree have allowed it to fully understand what a driver should face when on the virtual road. And CALLUM’s knack for intuitive design allows this piece to become a conversational and evocative fixture in any living space.
Aside from the immersive technology behind the Racing Simulator, the exterior sports a curvaceous shape made from 16 layers of birch wood and finished in black lacquered gloss. The Cobra Nogaro driver’s seat cockpit is built from carbon fiber to lessen the weight without sacrificing any sturdiness. Pairing with the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 wireless headphones, the Assetto Corsa software utilizes a 12GB GeForce RTX graphics card, delivered on a 49” curved AOC dual QHD monitor with 5K resolution. The steering wheel itself is a Precision SIM LM Pro with 5 rotary dials and 12 push buttons.
Spanning nearly 11ft in length, the Prodrive Racing Simulator is available to reserve now through Prodrive’s website for £39,000 (~$46,649).
