Few car companies command as much respect and adulation as Porsche. After designing the iconic Porsche 911, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche chose not to rest on his laurels, rather, he founded the Porsche Design Company in 1972, which has gone on to create a number of high-end luxury items, from skis to watches to sunglasses. With a design philosophy that optimizes function as its guiding light, the German luxury brand has developed a well-respected reputation that has transcended its automotive roots. Now, almost 50 years after its founding, Porsche Design seeks to widen its purview with its first-ever pair of true wireless earbuds.
When designing the PDT60 earphones, Porsche Design opted to create an earbud that featured a minimalistic look with maximalist features, and it did exactly that. Stunning to look at, the PDT60 buds sport a sleek, contemporary design thanks to their aluminum construction. Better yet, they feature an ergonomic shape for enhanced comfort and are supplied with different ear tips made from flexible plastic to ensure a perfect fit. From a technological perspective, the PDT60 thoroughly impresses with optional active noise canceling that filters out background and ambient noise to augment the user’s listening experience. For an optimized calling experience, wearers also have the benefit of an electronic noise-canceling feature for crystal-clear call quality. Furthermore, the PDT60 boasts five hours of continuous playtime and benefits from a fast-charging feature, courtesy of its sleek case.
Speaking of the PDT60’s case, it’s nearly as impressive as the buds themselves, as it boasts aluminum construction with a leather cover and magnetic holder. It also stores power for another 15 hours of playtime and can be charged using a USB-C cable or wirelessly. Add in the buds’ Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and IPX5 water resistance for sweat protection, and you have a pair of earphones that more than earn their Porsche name. The Porsche Design PDT60 true wireless earphones can be bought on Porsche Design’s website and retail for $299.
