Nothing is a London-based electronic company that got started back in 2020 but is already making waves in the tech scene. When the Nothing Phone (1) came out last year, the unique, see-through design and features were certainly appreciated by tech and gear junkies, but some of the hardware left a bit to be desired for some when compared to the big boys (iPhone, Samsung, etc.). And now the company is back with a not bigger, but definitely better version: the Nothing Phone (2), which features some welcome upgrades.

The performance in this second iteration is bolstered by a Snapdragon  8+ Gen 1 chip, a nice upgrade from the 1’s 778G+, and it features a brighter, 6.7-inch 1080p 120Hz LTPO OLED screen (with a peak brightness of 1,600 nits). It has 50 MP dual rear cameras and a 32 MP front camera, capable of capturing video at 4k/60fps, and new modes for capturing footage. As for the battery life, you get a 4,700mAh battery that should last you all day with normal use, and charges fully in 55 minutes.

Upon first glance, the Phone (2) certainly looks like the original Phone (1) (although a bit curvier), which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because the initial design is still an interesting one, and the brand is establishing itself. And once you get into the specs, you can see how different they really are, like the addition of Nothing OS 2.0, which allows for more customization options (themes, folders, widgets, etc.)

The Nothing Phone (2) is available for pre-order now and officially releases on July 17th, starting at $599 for the version with 8GB of Ram and 128 GB of storage (it’s $100 extra for 12GB RAM/256 GB and $100 more for 12GB RAM/512GB).
