The Nikon Z f Blends Retro Style with Modern Tech

While the cameras in our smartphones are getting better every year, there’s something about a solid, dedicated camera that’s hard to beat. Sure, high-quality digital cameras are a bit more cumbersome than your phone, but since mirrorless cameras hit the scene in the early 2000s, the tech has only been improving (and getting smaller). Nikon is undoubtedly a legend in the camera industry, with a history dating back to 1917, and the label is always looking for new ways to honor the past while pushing the industry forward. And they’ve done just that with the new Nikon Z f, a full-frame mirrorless camera with retro style and modern tech.

Inspired by Nikon’s FM2 film camera, this camera features a 24.5-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and the powerful EXPEED 7 processing engine for premium image quality and processing power. It’s equipped with AF tracking, an expanded focus area, and a convenient vari-angle touchscreen (the first full-frame Z-series mirrorless camera to have one). As for the video, you’re getting 4K UHD at 30 fps (oversampled from 6K) and 10-bit H.265 recording. Between the rugged magnesium alloy construction, dual memory card slots, and advanced features, this is a versatile powerhouse in a compact, retro frame (with a ’70s-era Nikon logo to tie it all together).
