FUJIFILM’s X Series of cameras has featured some of the brand’s most popular models, and the latest addition to the line aims to achieve more than its predecessors. With the unveiling of its mirrorless X-H2, the Tokyo-bred manufacturer shows off its visual prowess, and then some.
There are some significant differences between this and the rest of Fuji’s X Series, all of which manage to outshine features offered in its predecessors. First, the X-H2 is the first APS-C camera in the X Series to feature 8K/30P recording capabilities in Apple ProRes. Moreover, the premium video format paves the way for real-time editing ability and premium visual quality while consuming less memory. Another key improvement is its maximum shutter speed of 1/180,000, an increase of nearly 2.5 stops compared to the preceding X Series cameras.
Additionally, the camera features a 40.2-megapixel X-Trans sensor that results in lively stills and videos. Design-wise, it is primarily based on the gadgeteer’s pre-existing X-H2S, but its internal improvements help distinguish them. As far as recording time goes, its heat-dissipating composition allows you to capture 8K footage for roughly 160 minutes. The camera even features a whopping total of 79 weather-sealed points that resist dust and moisture, deeming it mightily durable and capable of operating in temperatures as low as 14°.
FUJIFILM is looking to up the stakes, as this forthcoming release is ready to rival several other mirrorless models on the market. The X-H2 is available to pre-order for $1,999 and is slated to ship starting September 29.
