After 80 Years of Amps, Fender Just Launched Its First Wireless Headphones

Since legendary amp specialist Marshall debuted its first headphones in 2010 (and subsequently, its first portable speaker in 2012), the amp-turned-home audio segment has been relatively quiet.

Fender has been making amplifiers even longer than it’s been making electric guitars — the product it’s most known for. But still, it’s taken them some 80 years to take a serious crack at consumer headphones. While they dabbled in musician-grade wired models about a decade ago, the new MIX is the company’s first-ever wireless headphones.

Built to Last (and Last, and Last…)

The headphone market doesn’t lack for options right now, but Fender’s approach with the MIX feels refreshingly practical. Launching as part of the Fender Audio sub-brand, these are modular headphones where key components can be swapped out, like ear cushions, the headband, and even the battery.

Battery life is also a real standout here, giving you 100 hours without ANC, 52 hours with it on, which is superb for wireless headphones at this price point. Quick charging offers 8 hours of ANC playback after just 15 minutes.

Inside, 40mm graphene drivers are paired with hybrid active noise cancellation and spatial audio processing for a more immersive listening experience and quality calls.

Triple the Fun

Fender is also emphasizing their three audio modes. This includes a FWD Tx USB-C transmitter that unlocks lossless LHDC-V streaming at 96kHz/24bit, low-latency LC3 for gaming, and Auracast for broadcasting to multiple devices. There’s also a 3.5mm aux input for fully passive listening when the battery finally does run dry.

Elie Speakers Get the Stage Ready

While the MIX headphones are the headliner, Fender Audio is also launching the ELIE portable Bluetooth speaker series (that stands for Extremely Loud Infinitely Expressive, if you’re wondering). The lineup includes the E6 at 60 watts and the larger E12 at 120 watts, both featuring Waves system-on-a-chip implementation — a first for portable speakers — aimed at delivering higher output with lower distortion.

Both models support up to four simultaneous audio channels with low latency, plus XLR and quarter-inch inputs for plugging in instruments. You can pair two for stereo separation or sync multiple units across a space, which feels very much in line with Fender’s stage-focused lineage.
