Dyson’s First-Ever Portable EDC Fan Gives You 55MPH of Cool Air – And It Fits In Your Pocket

Dyson has been in the airflow business for nearly two decades now, starting with the Air Multiplier back in 2009 and expanding into hair dryers, purifiers, and heaters along the way. But for all that expertise, the brand has never built something made specifically for EDC – something you can just grab and take with you.

Well, the HushJet Mini Cool changes that, and the result looks less like a handheld fan and more like a premium flashlight that happens to blast 55 mph of cool air at your face.

The Dyson DNA Is Strong

If you’ve held a Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, the HushJet Mini Cool’s proportions will feel immediately familiar. And that’s definitely not an accident. The cylindrical body shares the same 38mm (1.5-inch) diameter as the Supersonic r and the PencilVac, which tells us this is a dimension Dyson clearly considers a sweet spot for handheld ergonomics.

At 7.5 ounces and just under 8 inches tall, it’s compact enough to slip into a bag or yes, even your pockets, and the included lanyard, charging stand, and travel pouch give you three different ways to carry as well.

Small Body, Serious Motor

This thing is an absolute beast of fan. It’s powered by a brushless DC motor spinning at up to 65,000 RPM, all crammed into something roughly the width of a watch face. For context, most portable fans on the market top out around 9 mph of airflow. The HushJet Mini Cool pushes 55 mph (in boost mode).

Five speed settings plus the boost mode let you dial things in, and the star-shaped HushJet nozzle (with a honeycomb mesh liner underneath) is engineered to cut down on the high-pitched whining you might expect from a motor this fast. On its lowest setting, it runs at 52 dBA, which for context, is quieter than a normal conversation.

Keeping Cool, Keeping Quiet

The 5,000 mAh battery delivers up to six hours of runtime on a single charge and tops off in about three hours via USB-C. You can even use it on the lowest setting while it’s charging, which is a nice touch if you do decide to power it up at your desk.

The bladeless design means no exposed spinning parts to snag hair or jewelry, and the 360-degree twist nozzle lets you direct airflow wherever you need it. Dyson is also planning a universal stroller mount and a grip clip for bag straps later this summer, sold separately of course.
