UK audio juggernaut Bowers & Wilkins is known for its state-of-the-art gear, but it gets even better if you can believe it. The label is known for improving upon the base models of its audio equipment with the Signature series lineup (although it’s not very often), and now the 700 S3 series is getting beefed up in B&W’s 700 S3 Signature Series, featuring the 702 S3 Signature stand-mount speaker and the 705 S3 Signature tower speaker.
Building on the base model 702 S3, the 702 S3 Signature stand-mount speaker is all about bringing studio-quality audio to your home. The speaker now comes with a more open tweeter grille mesh, revamped capacitors, and improvements to the midrange and low-frequency motor systems for a more open sound. You’re getting three Aerofoil Profile woofers for some deep bass and B&W’s Carbon Dome tweeter housed in the label’s Tweeter-on-Top arrangement. The 705 S3 is equipped with a lot of the same improvements as the 702 S3 Signature, like the more open tweeter grille mesh (which was first introduced in the 800 Signature series last year) and upgraded capacitors, along with B&W’s Continuum mid-bass drive unit. Of course, you’re getting the same tastefully space-age-y design from the OG 700 S3 series, with both speakers offered in Datuk Gloss or Midnight Blue Metallic finishes.
The collection also includes the HTM71 S3 Signature center-channel speaker to accompany the 702 S3 and 705 S3, with the latest generation of B&W’s Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing (like the 702 S3 Signature and 705 S3 Signature) and an Aerofoil Profile bass cone providing some variable thickness for more dynamic bass.
The Bowers & Wilkins 700 S3 Signature Series, featuring the 702 S3 Signature stand-mount speaker for $9,000 a pair and the 705 S3 Signature tower speaker for $4,500 a pair (and the HTM71 S3 center-channel speaker for $3,300), is available now.
