Denmark-based audio equipment company Bang & Olufsen is an industry mainstay, crafting artisanal products from radios to TVs. The Beolit 39, which marked the beginning of the “Beo” prefix among the label’s products, was its first portable radio that came out in 1939 and became an instant classic thanks to its unique design. It also went on to inspire B&O’s Beolit 12, kicking off its refreshed line of portable speakers, which have quickly become popular among audiophiles. Another cutting-edge product was the Beogram 4000, the label’s first record player featuring a uniquely positioned tone-arm, which made its way into the MoMa design collection. In celebration of the company’s legendary past and bright future, B&O is releasing the limited-edition Beosystem 72-23 Nordic Dawn. The sound system includes the Beogram 4000c turntable, two Beolab 28 speakers, along with Besound Core and Beolab transmitter units.
At the core of the set, we have a custom Beogram 4000c turntable coming in a birch wood cabinet. This timeless piece of equipment was updated to include a pre-amp, more inputs, and to last a lifetime. Accompanying the turntable are two Beolab 28s, a studio-quality pair of high-power (and high-end) wireless stereo speakers. In the spirit of past and present reflection, the system will support both vinyl and streaming through the built-in Besound Core and Besound Transmitter units. Tying it all together is the Beoremote Halo, providing customizable remote access to the system.
Taking inspiration from Scandinavian nature, particularly sunrises, the custom versions of each piece of equipment come in honey, ginger, and amber aluminum finishes, accompanied by sleek birch wood. Additionally, the custom fabric on the Beolab 28s was made by Kvadrat, a Danish textile label.
The Beosystem 72-23 Nordic Dawn is limited to 100 units and available for $65,000 in participating stores in the US, Europe, and Hong Kong.
