Nike is no stranger to collaborating with California-bred brands, and Stüssy is one of many West Coast staples to adorn the Swoosh. The latest joint effort between the two is a chic makeover of the Air Max 2013, and it serves as a much-needed change of pace.
Compositionally, the revived trainer doesn’t receive any big changes, but it’s still good to see this innovative silhouette back on the market — at least while supplies last. The collaborative pair is reimagined in a trio of colorways, including Fossil Bone, Psychic Pink, and Black, the latter of which boasts a trippy multicolored layer beneath its mesh-constructed upper. Differences among the three include the Fossil pair’s matte-painted airbags and hemp swoosh patch, whereas the other colors sit on clear airbags with no hemp elements.
In addition to the shoes, Stüssy’s latest joint effort includes several other pieces, like a Nike STORM-Fit tracksuit, a Nike NRG long-sleeve top, and a pair of Nike socks with Stüssy branding, which is practically a dream come true for streetwear enthusiasts. The collection also features a pair of Nike’s signature Benassi slides, now dressed up with the Stüssy logo, which is another great way to stay stylish and comfortable this summer.
While celebrity co-branding has taken over the shoe game, this sleek pair helps shift the conversation to its fashion-based roots. Stüssy’s take on the Nike Air Max 2013 is available on the latter’s webshop for $210, while other pieces in the capsule start from $35.
