As one of the greatest ball players (and athletes) of all time, most agree that Michael Jordan’s six championship wins from 1991 to 1998 with the Bulls (and his MVP awards) were career-defining, and cemented him as one of the GOATs. His work with Nike on the Jordan Brand is just as iconic as his basketball career, and many of the classic silhouettes are still coveted by fans (especially game-worn sneakers). Now, Sotheby’s is auctioning off six individual sneakers worn by MJ during his six career NBA championships with the Dynasty Collection, and it’s one of the most significant collections of Jordans ever.

The story of these legendary sneakers starts with a PR agent who was working for the Bulls at the time (Tim Hallam) asking for one of MJ’s shoes, but only if the team won the ‘91 finals. After winning, Jordan signed one of his shoes and gave it to Hallam, and would go on to make this a tradition for the following championship wins. A private collector bought them off Hallam, and now they’re up for auction (and likely the most valuable Jordans ever to be offered).

This collection also comes with a set of photographs taken (and signed) by Bill Smith, capturing the GOAT after the ‘92, ‘93, ‘96, and ‘98 NBA finals. These photos are almost as legendary as the shoes, with MJ popping bottles and enjoying cigars while rocking a single Air Jordan.
