When a company has been around as long as Rimowa (just about 125 years), it’s never surprising to see its archival work lend such a significant hand in its newer products — after all, if it ain’t broke, why fix it? The same applies to the LVMH-owned brand’s Original Pilot case, which first hit the scene well over two decades ago, underwent a noteworthy redesign last year, and is now back in stock.

Serving as a favorite for frequent flyers upon its release in 1994, original iterations can currently be found on eBay starting from as much as $1,850, going to show just how iconic this particular silhouette is. The redesigned Original Pilot Case is constructed using the heritage manufacturer’s grooved aluminum and highlighted by a plethora of padded compartments to promote secure storage space. These include a slot for a laptop as big as 16”, which Rimowa suggests can easily be removed to transform it into a luxury toolbox of sorts. Additionally, it boasts an array of zipped pockets that vary in size, each of which can tackle anything from your earbuds to loose chargers.

On top of its more secure openings, it features an open vertical pocket that provides easy access for a water bottle or umbrella, as you never know where your trip will take you. As usual, Rimowa’s pricey piece of luggage features a proprietary Multiwheel system and telescopic handle, so maneuvering around the airport has never been easier. Lastly, it features a 6.82-gallon volume that ensures it’s built for holding all your essentials and then some.

While we can’t guarantee it’ll be back for long, Rimowa’s Original Pilot Case is available on its site for $1,500.
