Nike has been shaking things up with its Realtree camo collabs over the past year. Although they’ve been featuring the photorealistic prints in some capacity since 2011, mostly with outdoor-focused gear, they’ve recently been throwing the camo on sneakers and running shoes.
The most recent pair to get the Realtree treatment is the Vomero Plus, which might be the best version we’ve seen so far.

A Different Type of Camo
Bill Jordan founded Realtree in 1986 to create a type of camo that actually worked when hunting. He did so by mimicking the three-dimensional layers of oak trees and natural foliage. Now synonymous with hunting gear, Realtree has well over 1,500 licensees, transcending its roots to becoming one of the most unlikely fashion statements around.

The Vomero Plus
Sitting in the middle of Nike’s recently tiered Vomero range, the Vomero Plus won’t have the 55mm stack height of the Premium but it’s nothing to sneeze at. Starting with a still-massive 45mm stack, the running shoe boasts a full-length ZoomX midsole, which is the same ultralight foam found in the brand’s racing shoes and claiming 85% energy return (their highest available and the most responsive on the market). Stability is achieved through the wider platform and increased rocker geometry. Underfoot, you get superb traction on asphalt thanks to the high-abrasion rubber outsole.
However, the reason you’re here is for the Realtree skin. More than just a basic print, Nike utilizes the camo well, integrating the pattern in the engineered mesh yarn upper so that it almost disappears into the sneaker. When we saw this same treatment on the Vomero Premium, it was emblazoned on the midsole stack; here, it’s much more subtle and accessible. The running shoes have never been more lifestyle-ready as they are with these.

Recap
Nike Vomero Plus Realtree
Nike took its ongoing Realtree collab in a more refined direction with the Vomero Plus, weaving the camo directly into the engineered mesh upper rather than plastering it across the midsole. The result is a 45mm ZoomX-powered running shoe that’s actually subtle enough to wear beyond the trail, and it’s available now for $190.
