When asked to think of a sneaker, any sneaker – it’s likely that an Air Jordan silhouette will cross your mind. That’s because it’s been one of the most iconic shoes both on and off the court since originally dropping in ‘85. While there’s no denying the silhouette’s status, they haven’t been traditionally known as the go-to outdoor shoes (though many have tried), and when the original winterized Jordan 6 Rings dropped in 2010, they didn’t get the love they deserved. Well, that’s all about to change because Nike has dropped the Jordan Winterized 6 Rings, a pair of weatherproof Air Jordans inspired by classic AJ silhouettes.

As for the construction of these winter-ready kicks, they start with a weather-resistant leather and ballistic mesh upper to shield your feet from water and debris. Thick interior lining and metallic loops drive home the ruggedized look, along with the chunky treads on the outsole that keep you steady on rough/slippery terrain. Finally, an Air unit can be found in the heel, giving you that classic cushioning without adding weight.

The Jordan 6 Rings, a name referencing Michael Jordan’s six NBA championship wins (and the six Jordan styles blended together), gets its shape from a variety of classic Jordan silhouettes (specifically the Air Jordan 6 to the Air Jordan 13s) that MJ wore himself while getting these wins. Getting into the colorways, in addition to the Rocky Tan, Varsity Red, and Black colorway you see here, there’s also a blacked-out Black and Rustic variant that dropped last month if you want a stealthier look.

The Nike Jordan Winterized 6 Rings are available now for $185, and out of the two colorways we got into above, the very Timberland-esque Rocky Tan, Varsity Red, and Black option is our personal favorite and has the perfect earth-tone look for this fall and winter.
