Nike’s Air Max lineup is arguably the most iconic collection of running shoes to ever exist, and the Swoosh continues to innovate with drops like the Air Max Dn that dropped this past March, which introduced a whole new take on the classic Air technology, opting for bubbly Air units that give you a smoother stride. Earlier this year, Nike reworked the Tuned Air Max silhouette from the late ‘90s into the Air Max Plus Drift, and it’s available now in seven colorways.

Starting with a combination upper using both mesh and synthetic materials, you’re getting Nike’s Tuned Air technology on full display (or TN for short), giving you reliable stability and cushioning that uses air-filled capsules in the sole for custom support that responds to each step. Considering that this technology was originally designed for running shoes, you’re getting the kind of support that’s built for long runs and record-breaking athletes, so you can trust that you’ll have plenty of support. Of course, you’re getting that signature wavy look that the Air Max Plus lineup is famous for, with exposed Air Units on the heels tying it all together.

The idea behind the design of this silhouette was to combine the essence of the beach with city-friendly looks, opting for an arch inspired by a whale’s tail and wavy lines across the upper that evoke images of palm trees swaying in the wind and ocean waves crashing on the shore (Nike knocked it out of the park on that front, by the way).

The Nike Air Max Plus Drift is available now for $185 in the “Light Iron Ore/Dark Raisin/Persian Violet/Concord” that just dropped (and also the one we’ve featured here), along with six other choices, including the futuristic “Black/Anthracite/Vintage Green/Green Strike” and monochromatic “White/Metallic Silver/Black.”
