Every Nike fan remembers their first pair of Air Maxes, and it’s likely that they also champion a certain model; maybe it’s the bullet-train-inspired AM97s, or the classic AM1s. Whatever it is, you really can’t go wrong, especially when the shoes tend to showcase some of Nike’s best tech. Nike’s Air Max Dn is the latest entry to the Air Max dynasty, and continues the tradition of cutting-edge looks and design coming together in harmony.

This new Air technology is showcased by the bubbles on the heel, and uses pressurized tubes (along with a high-pressure heel and a low-pressure forefoot) to give you a smoother stride as air is more effectively shifted from the heel to the forefoot. You’re getting layers of textured mesh on the upper (bolstered by some haptic grip) and a plush foam midsole around the Dynamic Air unit system for a lightweight silhouette that’s ready for the future. As for the design, Nike’s new bubbly air units are on full display (complemented by the retro Air Max bubble branding), and depending on the colorway you go with, they contrast the rest of the shoe in a unique way.

The Air Max lineup is home to some of Nike’s most innovative tech and silhouettes (like the OG Air Max 1s debuting the first Air units), and the Air Max Dn is no exception. Also like the AM1s, the AMDns were rigorously tested and tweaked before going public, using a technology called Finite Element Analysis, which simulates a year of wear and tear to test the silhouette’s durability.

The Nike Air Max Dn is available now for $160, clad in the “Black/Cool Grey/Pure Platinum/White” colorway featured here, along with a handful of others like its debut “Black/Dark Smoke Grey/Anthracite/Light Crimson.”
