Bo Jackson is easily one of the most versatile players to ever play either of his respective sports, and the iconic multi-sport athlete is now garnering the appreciation he deserves thanks to Nike rehashing his three-decade-old signature shoe, the Air Bo Turf.
The sneaker first hit shelves in 1990 when Jackson was a member of both the L.A. Raiders and Kansas City Royals. Additions to the somewhat modernized silhouette feature personalized details like “34” at the heel and “BO KNOWS” written on both insoles, the latter of which is a nod to Nike’s classic ad campaign. Outside of this, the low-top kicks retain every bit of their integrity with this re-release, featuring elements like lockdown cables on the upper’s panels.
The shoes feature a similar look to Nike silhouettes you can still find in stores and online with ease, primarily a variety of generations of its Air Trainer line. Nevertheless, fans of the multi-sport All-Star will appreciate the fact that this icon is coming back to life. While Michael Jordan practically served as Nike’s wunderkind from a basketball standpoint, Bo Jackson was the face of the Beaverton-based shoemaker’s training line, which only makes sense when you consider his unrivaled athleticism.
Expect to see some of your favorite football and baseball players channeling Bo over the course of the next season. Nike’s Air Bo Turf will release via Nike’s SNKRS app on July 6 for $140.
