Short for “Natural Glocal Evolution,” Naglev is an Italian footwear outfit that, despite only being founded in 2017, has already carved out an impressive reputation and a dedicated fanbase on the strength of its innovative Kevlar-constructed boots and shoes. And after the immense success of its first pairs, the company has now taken its signature formula and applied it to a pair of cutting-edge trail-running shoes christened the Naglev Veloce.
Italian for “fast,” the Veloce trail-runners are far more than just a standard trail-running shoe that’s had its upper crafted from polyamide. Extremely calculated, the shoes feature uppers cut from a single piece of Kevlar that’s been reinforced using a force-distributing organic exoskeleton stitching setup which has been executed in a topographical stitch pattern — an element that hugely bolsters the shoe’s strength while also earning it some extra style points. What’s more, this envelop-pushing exoskeleton forms a flexible cage through precise stitching, which thereby allows the shoe to more efficiently distribute forces during movement. In typical Naglev fashion, the Veloce also hugely benefits from top-notch build quality and exacting quality control standards.
Weighing just 11.2oz, each shoe is built atop a natural rubber outsole. While grippy and durable, the outsole’s construction isn’t as hardwearing as the upper’s Kevlar composition. As such, Naglev opted to design these Kevlar trail-running shoes with outsoles that can be replaced once worn out. Helping to ensure a precise and snug fit is a precision slip-on-capable lacing system that’s been joined by an integrated elastic knitted scree collar. Inside, the shoe features a high-rebound EVA midsole that’s encased in Kevlar fabric and paired with an Ortholite Impressions foam footbed and an eco-sustainable fabric lining. This bar-raising design would ultimately earn Naglev a prestigious ISPO Award — a fact that no doubt speaks volumes about how truly innovative the Veloce trail-running shoes really are.
