Nowadays, the gap between performance gear and runway attire runs remarkably thin, and there is yet another joint effort to prove it. Upon coming together with adidas for the first time, Gucci has wheeled out the lookbook for one of this year’s most anticipated collections.
The best word(s) to describe the new collection and its at-home workout VHS-esque lookbook would be “80s chic,” boasting a blend of old-school collegiate style, head-turning colors, and high-end textiles that remain remarkably tasteful. This should come as no surprise, as all elements of this release were designed and curated by creative director Alessandro Michele. The color-coated capsule features a wide variety of iconic adidas pieces that have been reimagined, like viscose-crafted tracksuits and the ever-so-popular Gazelle sneaker, the latter of which is now clad in Gucci’s inimitable GG canvas.
As far as other garments are concerned, the collection consists of a classic, light blue oxford shirt, ribbed striped polos, luxurious suede loafers, and a near-endless assortment of accessories highlighted by a trefoil and Gucci logo to acknowledge the joint effort. These accessories include (but are not limited to) socks, leather bags, umbrellas, and fingerless leather gloves. One thing is apparent throughout this capsule, and that is that adidas is following its rather monochrome Prada collab with an appropriate splash of color for summer with an arguably even more lauded partner.
The wait to have a look at this collab is finally over, but you still have some time to decide what you want. The Gucci x adidas collection will be available on June 7, with pieces starting from $235.
