The scents and sights of fall are closely linked to the forest, which makes it the perfect time to break out the earth-tone apparel. END. and Salomon realize this and teamed up last month on a pair of fall-ready XT-6s with the “Dark Truffle” collab, and now they’re back with another mushroom-inspired take on the techwear darling: The END. x Salomon XT-6 Porcinis.
The upper is made of textile and TPU film and comes in this porcini-inspired colorway of warm earth tones. Inside, you get an OrthoLite sock liner and an insole with some neat mushroom graphics behind a set of the duo’s logos, along with an EVA midsole for comfort and shock absorption, and an ACS chassis to keep your stride stable. Finally, they’re finished with Salomon’s in-house Contagrip Outsole, providing traction and a reliable lug system for a variety of terrain.
END. has been on a tear over this last year, collaborating with the likes of Champion and Levi’s to reimagine classic apparel, and it’s cool to see them tackle a modern (and undeniably famous) silhouette like the XT-6. As for the source of this shoe’s inspiration, the porcini may be best known for its umami flavor and versatility in dishes, but the mushroom’s color is also quite unique. Salomon and END. have done a good job at capturing those deep orange and brown hues you find in porcinis, and it’s the perfect autumn colorway.
The END. x Salomon XT-6 ‘Porcini’ will be available for £170 (~$207) on October 20th in the Sugar Almond, Golden Yellow, and Wren colorway featured above. You can enter the draw and check out more info on END.’s website in the meantime (and if the duo’s last release is anything to go by, these will sell out quickly, so register ASAP if you’re interested).
