adidas Pulls Its New Hyperboost Foam Off the Race Course and Onto the Street

Every great running foam ends up taking its talents to the sidewalk eventually. It happened with the original Boost, it happened with React, and it usually takes a few years of regular folks voting with their wallets before the brand catches on.

adidas apparently didn’t feel like waiting this time. Just four months after debuting its new Hyperboost cushioning on the Edge super trainer, the Three Stripes has gone ahead and built the street version itself: the adidas Hyperboost Euphoria.

Running DNA, Zero Running Required

Despite the towering beaded midsole and unmistakable super trainer silhouette, the brand states outright that the Euphoria isn’t meant for running. That stack is there for all-day comfort, not tempo work.

To get there, adidas carved out the midsole core to shed weight, widened the platform, stretched the heel, and softened the aggressive rocker so you’re not being pitched forward on a coffee run. It’s no featherweight, though. At 313.6 grams in a UK 8.5, it carries nearly 60 more grams than the Edge it’s based on, but that’s the toll for a build that can take a daily beating.

Caged or See-Through, Take Your Pick

The Euphoria is being released in two different formats. First, is the standard EPHR that drapes a TPU net across the entire quarter, wrapping the shoe in a molded lattice. It gives the silhouette a wider, planted stance.

The lighter EPHR LT swaps the cage for a semi-transparent mono mesh that lets the internal skeleton show through, and feels more like frosted glass over scaffolding.
