adidas and RIMOWA Team Up For Its First Aluminum Backpack & NMD Sneakers

As two stalwarts of German design and culture, adidas and RIMOWA have crossed paths on a collaborative pair of sneakers and, even more impressively, the luggage manufacturer’s first-ever aluminum backpack. Garnering inspiration from the great outdoors, these functional pieces serve as yet another showcase of the bridge between luxury and streetwear.

The NMD_S1 is already one of adidas’ most popular silhouettes, but this joint effort managed to take it to new heights. The sneaker is highlighted by a sustainable Primeknit upper doused in a fitting titanium-inspired colorway. These sit atop the athleisure giant’s signature Boost midsole embellished with the coordinates of each brand’s headquarters facility, which is a nod to Rimowa’s final touch on its items.

As expected, the two-product drop’s pièce de résistance is the grooved aluminum backpack, a remarkably versatile piece of gear that was bound to come to fruition. It boasts a surfeit of functional features, including padded utility straps fitted with thumb loops, a detachable gusset that paves the way to a pair of zipped pockets, and a laptop sleeve suitable for devices as large as 16-inches. Lastly, since aluminum isn’t the most comfortable material to have pressed against your back, adidas implemented a BOOST foam ridge overlay surrounding the aluminum for optimal comfort.

The RIMOWA x adidas NMD_S1 and NMD_Backpack will be available on November 17 on both of their webshops starting from $250.
