With the sequel to the acclaimed Into the Spider-Verse fast approaching, Nike is teaming up with Spidey once again. Now that the company has revealed the design and release date for its Air Jordan 1 High OG “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” after much anticipation, Jordan and Spider-Man fans can powerfully rejoice – with great responsibility.
Although Nike is drawing from the timeless Chicago colorway, MJ’s first shoe with the brand, the Spider-Verse AJ1 will have an animated flare this time around. The University Red and Black upper part of the shoe is accented with Ben-Day dots, the comic book art style, and wing patterns placed on the ankle. The white upper bases, red panels, and black leather are par for the course, but the glassy red outsole is certainly eye-catching. Harkening back to the original design, it even features a Nike Air logo on the tongue and the insoles with a classic black leather swoosh to tie it all together.
Jordan and Spider-Man have a brief history together, and with the release of these kicks on the horizon, a bright future awaits as well. The pair collaborated on the Air Jordan 1 High OG Spider-Man Origin Story back in 2018 whose popularity caused resale site prices to skyrocket. This drop marked the release of the first Miles Morales Spider-Man, Into the Spider-Verse, while the new Spider-Verse Jordans will coincide with the release of the next installment coming June 2nd. Expect to see a similar level of excitement (and resellers) this time around and prepare to snag these while they’re hot.
Set to celebrate the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the upcoming pair of Air Jordan 1 High OGs that share the film’s name will be available to pick up starting May 20th for $200 via SNKRS.
