Initially released in 2017, the TAXA Outdoors Woolly Bear is a rugged and highly versatile off-road trailer that, at only 10’ 8”, can fit in a standard garage or parking space. In early 2021, TAXA unveiled the latest version of the Woolly Bear and since that time has debuted several special versions of the trailer — the latest of which sees the brand join forces with Topo Designs for a limited-edition take on the Woolly Bear.
Weighing only 1,270lbs, this version of the Woolly Bear is nearly identical to the regular latest generation of the Woolly Bear. As such it features a full-size outdoor kitchen, two sets of adjustable risers, a pull-out cooler, a huge variety of gear storage and attachment points, and a massive laser-cut, powder-coated steel cargo deck with a 600-pound weight capacity that can accommodate most two or three-person tents. Impressive off-road capabilities are afforded via a powder-coated steel chassis, an 800-pound swivel tongue jack, torsion axle suspension, electric brakes, 15″ steel wheel with all-terrain tires, a full-size 15″ spare wheel, powder-coated gravel guards, quad stabilizer jacks, Lock ‘N Roll trailer hitch, and an accessory rear hitch. The trailer also offers 12” of ground clearance and measures 5’ 4” in width.
Separating the Topo Designs version from the regular model is a special red, black, and white colorway, along with special Topo x TAXA branding. This special-edition version of the trailer also comes with a trio of Topo Designs x TAXA bags including the former company’s 16-liter X-Pac construction Mountain Pack, Topo’s modular 10-liter Pack Bag, and the brand’s massive 48-liter 1000-denier recycled nylon Mountain Gear Bag. The red, white, and black colorway also extends to the bags, making for a truly collaborative set. Other details include multiple 12-volt USB and accessory outlets, a 12-volt digital voltmeter, LED underbody, cargo, and kitchen lights, a stainless steel countertop, a Birch kitchen organizer, powder-coated steel cabinets, NATO can storage, and lockable storage compartments and drawers.
