Quite possibly more so than any other manufacturer, McLaren’s history is deeply rooted in motorsport competition. As such, it’s frankly unsurprising that the British brand sells a wide range of ever-more capable turnkey, track-only race cars, culminating in McLaren’s newly-revealed Artura Trophy.
The Artura Trophy is a circuit-only, non-road-legal race car that’s built for use in the upcoming McLaren Trophy Europe season — a Pro-Am single-make championship consisting of 10 50-minute races held over the course of 5 weekends. Racing alongside the Fanatec GT World Challenge series — including one round supporting the iconic 24 Hours of Spa — the series’ first two rounds begin next year on June 2nd, at France’s Paul Ricard Circuit. No longer hampered by regulatory restrictions surrounding power, weight, or downforce, the Trophy-spec Artura sees the regular Artura’s 3.0-liter V6 lose its hybrid system in favor of pure petrol-power, with the Artura Trophy putting down 585hp. The vehicle also gains a pronounced carbon fiber aero kit with a new front splitter and canards and an extended rear wing.
Interestingly, after the completion of this ten-race Pro-Am series, the Artura Trophy can actually be converted back to a regular GT4-spec race car, too. And, just like with previous Trophy-spec models from McLaren, the purchase of the Artura Trophy includes the track-only car itself, plus a robust concierge package that includes hotel stays and transportation to and from each race weekend, a seat in the exclusive McLaren paddock, and support from the factory’s race department.
