With each coming day, countless auto manufacturers are aiming toward sustainability and electric power. Next in line, Maserati is looking to keep the contemporary trend alive with a major announcement to go fully electric by 2030. However, seeing as there are a few years left to spare by then, the Trident has unveiled the first look at its first fully-electric vehicle in the upcoming GranTurismo Folgore.
Maserati first announced Folgore, its 100% electric range, at the tail end of 2020. Now, the Italian manufacturer is gearing up to set the standard among others, as its eyes are set on becoming the first luxury brand to wheel out its fully-electric line-up by 2025. Come the decade’s halfway mark, the storied Italian marque plans on offering an entirely electric version of each car in its line, including its new Quattroporte sports sedan and Levante SUV.
As far as the next generation of the company’s longtime sporting flagship goes, this electrified take on the iconic grand tourer is slated to hit the market in 2023. Maserati claims that the boundary-pushing GranTurismo Folgore will offer world-class technical abilities built around comfort, performance, and opulence; a trio of commonplace elements from the manufacturer. In addition to the trailblazing coupe, Maserait’s upcoming Grecale SUV will also offer a Folgore-powered model next year.
While 2025 is bound to be a big year for the automaker in its own right, Maserati further expects to be entirely electric come the turn of the decade, with no gas-powered models in its lineup by 2030. And while we’ll certainly miss the distinct roar of Maserati’s ICE powerplants, we’re still eager to see more of what the Stellantis subsidiary has in store for the future.
