Kia’s Concept EV9 Provides a Good Idea of the Brand’s Future Cars

The annual Los Angeles Auto Show is home to countless concepts and visionary outlooks of what to expect in the near and distant future of automotive, and Kia is surely relying on the latter with their latest announcement. With their Concept EV9, the South Korean manufacturers have unveiled a boxy, entirely electric SUV that gives some good insight into what to expect in the make’s forthcoming line of EVs.

Greeting many with its large exterior, the Concept EV9 measures 194″ long, 80″ wide, 70″ high, and has a lengthy 122″ wheelbase, all of which go together to show just how big their eventual models may ultimately be. Drawing inspiration from Opposites United, KIA’s new standard for design unveiled earlier this year, the concept’s angular silhouette delivers on a build that convinces you to believe the future is now. This particular look is a derivative of the car’s D-pillar design, which also paves the way for an abundance of daylight to shine through its interior. As far as that aspect is concerned, a quartet of coach doors leads to a decadently cutting-edge interior with a 27″ touchscreen on the dashboard and what KIA calls a “pop-up steering pad.” Moving everything forward, they’ve done the same for their signature Tiger Face grille, which is now showcased through a full body-colored front rather than its standard presentation. Drawing inspiration from the water element, the Concept EV9 boasts a deep blue exterior that mirrors the ocean’s depths.

You can catch a glimpse of KIA’s not-so-distant future in Los Angeles between now and November 28th; in the meantime, at least we have the EV6 to look forward to.
