Founded in 2016 and headed up by Max and Erica Droog, Droog Moto is an award-winning custom motorcycle shop well known for churning out builds that combine a sleek urban aesthetic with a post-apocalyptic look. And while the shop has previously completed a slew of projects, its latest one-off two-wheeled work sees the husband and wife team deliver their most potent and high-performance build to date.
Named the Hyperfiighter Apagón SC, Max and Erica kicked off the project by sourcing a late-model Kawasaki sportbike, before wheeling the bike into the shop and completely stripping it down. Before building the machine back up in their own unique style, the duo treated the donor’s liquid-cooled 16-valve, 998cc inline-four engine to a supercharger, bumping the engine’s power up to 210hp. The addition of a supercharger also allows it to reach 60mph from a complete standstill in under three seconds.
As per usual, Droog has also outfitted the bike with its signature redesign, with the donor now sporting the shop’s trademark angular tank, tracker bars, stubby, upswept, hooped subframe, tracker-inspired front plate, and wheel disc covers. Other additions to the build include petal rotors, custom “APAGÓN” raidator graphics, a bespoke intake bank with integrated filtration, and an underslung superbike exhaust ending in a carbon fiber muffler that exits out of the project’s custom belly-pan just beneath the bike’s swing-arm pivot.
Droog Moto’s Hyperfighter Apagón SC project is currently for sale with a starting price of $75,000 — though the shop also produces a naturally-aspirated, (presumably Z900-based) 948cc version of the Apagón that starts at $50,000.
