Jeep Revives the Scrambler as SRT’s First High-Speed Desert Off-Roader

If you’ve ever burned an afternoon scrolling CJ-8 listings you had zero intention of bidding on, this one’s probably going to hit a nerve. Jeep already promised the Scrambler name was coming back when it outlined its future lineup earlier this year, and at the 2026 SEMA Show, the freshly revived SRT division showed us just how far off the leash that revival might run (and we’re grinning from ear-to-ear). Meet the Jeep Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept.

SRT’s First Desert Jeep

SRT badges have graced plenty of Grand Cherokees over the years, but they were all pretty much built for city streets. This, on the other hand, is the first desert-performance Jeep concept to ever wear the letters, and Tim Kuniskis’ crew clearly wasn’t interested in easing into it.

Rather than starting with the Gladiator, the team built on a two-door Wrangler, and they reshaped everything from the A-pillar back into a short-bed pickup chasing the CJ-8’s silhouette. The mission brief here isn’t rock crawling, but rather flat-out speed across open desert. And this required SRT to commit genuine Wrangler heresy.

Goodbye, Solid Front Axle

That heresy lives up front, where the solid axle (a Wrangler constant since 1986) has been binned for a bespoke high-travel independent front suspension. Developed with off-road racing champ Casey Currie, the setup builds on the architecture from the Jeep Striker concept that Currie drove to a class win at the NORRA 500.

Out back sits a trophy-truck-inspired rear axle, with Fox dampers and meaty BFGoodrich KM3s on bronze beadlocks finishing the hardware story. Power comes from a V8, though Jeep is keeping the actual specs (annoyingly) close to the vest for now.

A Bed Full of Tricks

The Punk’n orange body wears the Sharknose face Jeep debuted at this year’s Easter Jeep Safari. But this time around it has longer doors, a structural roll cage, and an integrated spray-lined bed. And that bed hides the concept’s cleverest party trick.

The rear bench clips into floor-mounted hooks, meaning it can be yanked out entirely for cargo or spun 180 degrees for rear-facing seating. Inside, Dark Graphite leather, orange inserts, and bronze accents keep things suitably premium for a truck built to get hammered through whoops.
