Armored personnel carriers — or “APCs” — have been used by military and law enforcement agencies for decades and have grown increasingly advanced and ever-more-protective over that time. The GOAT Tactical Vehicles Atlas Civilian APC is constructed around the Ford F-550 Super Duty platform and features the Blue Oval’s optional 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine. Mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission, this turbo-diesel V8 cranks out 330hp and 750ft-lbs of torque and allows for a payload capacity of just over 3,300lbs. The engine also draws from a 39-gallon tank affording a 400-mile range. Standing at 97.5” tall, spanning 249” in length, and boasting a 94.5” track, the rig weighs in at nearly 8.6 tons (or 17,196lbs) and can climb inclines as steep as 31°, ford through water as deep as 31.5”, and drive along slopes of up to 16.7°.
The Civilian Edition Atlas APC has been heavily fortified through the addition of bulletproof windows, floor and fuel-cell protection, roof protection, armor overlap doors with HD hinges, and engine and radiator protection. These elements collectively enable it to achieve a CEN B6 armor rating, allowing it to withstand 7.62 and 5.56 assault rifle rounds, as well as explosions from grenades and small IEDs. And, unlike the APCs being used by U.S. military forces overseas, GOAT Tactical’s new Civilian Edition Atlas model is fully road legal in all 50 states.
