Ferrari Gives Us the First Official Look at Its Forthcoming Purosangue SUV

Over the last few years, the luxury SUV market has absolutely exploded, with a host of elite marques tossing their hats into the sport utility vehicle ring. And while we’ve already seen SUV models come from Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Rolls-Royce — just to name a few — Ferrari is now getting in on the action with its forthcoming Purosangue SUV. And while leaked factory images may have already surfaced last month, we’re now being treated to the first official image of the Italian-built SUV, straight from the Prancing Horse itself.

The image released on the Maranello marque’s Instagram page shows the new SUV from a straight front perspective that shows off the headlight assembly, hood, and grille design of the Purosangue. Not unlike the Urus or Bentayga, the Purosangue maintains Ferrari’s signature design language while taking the form of a larger SUV. This means the new model gets a sleek set of LED strip headlights flanked by intake scoops top and bottom, as well as a lower set of what we hope to be functional intakes — both of which afford the SUV the exotic and unmistakably high-performance feel of Ferrari’s regular supercar offerings.

It’s also interesting that Ferrari has opted to finally bring an SUV to market, as some of the manufacturer’s higher-ups have previously made it abundantly clear that they believed an SUV model simply didn’t belong in the Prancing Horse lineup. Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne was even once quoted as saying, “You have to shoot me first,” when asked if the firm would ever deliver an SUV. Despite this, the Purosangue is now poised for a release in the coming months.

Though the company has yet to reveal a release date, official specs, or pricing, we anticipate the Ferrari Purosangue to go on sale within the next year.
