As we work to clean up our roads and highways with electric and hybrid vehicles, there’s a certain area of our planet that hasn’t received many alternative solutions yet — and it just might be the most important one of all.
As a response to a master’s thesis from one of its interns (who has now been brought on to help see this project through to production), CAKE, a Swedish transportation brand known for its lightweight eBikes and electric mopeds, created Kibb, an electric all-terrain vehicle that can be used for agricultural purposes. As it stands, the vehicles used to transport cargo and accomplish tasks in the farming industry are some of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases, not only for the fumes they put into the atmosphere but the fluids that may seep into the soil down below.
Built with a modular body that’s compatible with different ATV accessories, Kibb is also semi-autonomous, functioning without a human driver to free up the user while transporting cargo to and from different locations on a ranch. Likewise, the vehicle doubles as a power bank for mobile charging when needed and is intended to leave minimal impact on the soil.
