Auction Block: 2016 Ferrari LaFerrari

It’s hard to find a more popular supercar brand than Ferrari. The Italian automaker has been making classic, high-performing cars for over 70 years, and in 2013, they introduced their ultimate auto: LaFerrari — Italian for “The Ferrari” — an ultra-rare F1-derived hybrid. With only 499 of these precision-made cars in existence, even the wealthiest of the elite are hard-pressed to get their hands on one. And among those 499 LaFerraris, only one featured a gorgeous wine-colored Vinaccia exterior and a Pelle Chiodi Di Garofano interior, and it’s about to go on auction.

The specs on this LaFerrari are nothing short of astounding. It features a 6.3L V12 rear-mid engine layout with a supplemental electric motor to produce a staggering 949 hp and 663 ft-lb of torque. This mind-boggling power translates to a 0-60 time of just 2.4 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.7 seconds at 149.2 mph. The LaFerrari was built alongside F1 cars to mimic their engineering, architecture, and performance, which is evident in the carbon fiber tub and lowered driver’s seat. A slew of technological elements like smart front and rear undercarriage panels, as well as a rear spoiler, help contain LaFerrari’s monstrous power as it can hit over 9,000 rpm when the engine is redlining. What truly sets this LaFerrari apart, however, are the aforementioned aesthetic elements that its current owner special ordered. In order to match two other cars in his collection, this preferred customer of Ferrari special requested that his LaFerrari have a rich Vinaccia exterior and Pelle Chiodi Di Garofano wrapped leather interior, and the Prancing Horse obliged.

The result of this bespoke paint job was an elegant pairing of burgundy and chestnut that made for a car as gorgeous as it is high-performing. Those wanting to purchase this one-of-a-kind hypercar better check the balance of their trust funds as this LaFerrari is expected to fetch between $3,050,000-$3,450,000. If price isn’t a deterrent, however, this 2016 LaFerrari goes under the hammer through RM Sotheby’s on November 6.
