When it comes to ultra-valuable and elite sports cars from the 1960s and ’70s, classic Italian cars tend to receive most of the attention — and for good reason. However, Japan isn’t without its own rolling icons from this era, as wonderfully demonstrated by this ridiculously mint ’68 Toyota 2000GT that has just hit the online auction block of Bring a Trailer.
One of 351 specimens produced in total — and one of only 109 LHD examples — this 2KGT is in absolutely immaculate condition, though this is unsurprising considering that it’s spent the majority of its life on display in a museum before trading hands in 2013. Sporting chassis number MF10-10101, this specimen rides on magnesium wheels and features servo-assisted disc brakes, a four-wheel independent suspension setup, a triple Mikuni-Solex carb arrangement, and a five-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip diff. The car’s bodywork is also remarkably clean with almost no imperfections while the cabin of the Toyota is no less pristine, still boasting all of its original upholstery and seats, Signal-Seeking AM radio, and factory tool kit. Best of all, this Toyota GT’s 1,988cc 3M DOHC inline-six is in remarkable condition, showing only 19,000km (or 12,000 miles).
This 1968 Toyota 2000GT is currently up for offer on Bring a Trailer’s online auction block where (as of the time of writing) bidding has reached $300,000 with 12 days remaining. Located in Beverly Hills, California (with a clean Montana title), this immaculate 2000GT is being offered without a reserve price.
