The A110 Berlinette gets all the posters (and we get it), but Alpine’s history has a second act that’s very much worth remembering. In 1971, the brand followed up its curvy rally hero with a fiberglass wedge called the A310, a rear-engined, six-headlight oddball aimed right at the Porsche 911. Of course, it never dethroned Stuttgart, but it did give Alpine the most radical silhouette it’s ever worn.
Now, with the four-cylinder original turning 55 and the V6 version turning 50, Alpine has rolled into the Paris Motor Show with the A310 Vision concept.

Sketched Around the Real Thing
To create it, Alpine’s designers wheeled an original A310 into the middle of the studio and hand-sketched around it, asking what the wedge would look like if it were penned in 2026 instead of 1971. The answer measures 179.1 inches long, nearly 80 inches wide across the rear hips, and a pretty ridiculous 46.5 inches tall.

Up top you get raw aluminum bodywork while down low, a blacked-out section with organic surfacing clearly inspired by Formula 1 cars. The best bit might be the wheels, though, machined into a triangular “A” shape as a wink to the steel wheels on the earliest cars.

Pop-Down Headlights and Hi-Fi Knobs
The headlights tuck into a crease in the nose and reveal themselves on start-up. It’s essentially a “pop-down” move that flips the wedge era’s pop-up cliché on its head. There’s an S-duct carved through the hood, and a “Y zero” blade runs the length of the spine toward a split two-piece rear wing with frosted, ice-like transparency.

Hell, even the blade-shaped taillights earn their keep by generating some real downforce. Peek through the semi-transparent canopy and you’ll spot color-blocked seats and physical controls inspired by high-end Hi-Fi gear.

Alpine Swears It’s Just a Concept
The Vision rides on Alpine’s new APP architecture, which happens to be the same platform beneath the upcoming electric A110. And yet the brand insists this is a creative exploration rather than the announcement of a future production model.

We’re not quite sure we’re buying it though. Alpine has already confirmed a reborn A310 is coming, a 2+2 EV targeted for around 2028, and several test mules have been caught in the wild. We’d bet good money this concept ends up shaping that car, and frankly, we hope it does.
