Polaris Crammed 400 Horsepower Into Its Carbon-Clad RZR Pro R Factory Boost

We’ve been riding shotgun with Polaris’s factory racing program since 2023, when the brand rolled out its first purpose-built desert racer (the RZR Pro R Factory). Two Dakar titles and a 30-unit public release later, that machine really has little left to prove, so Polaris decided to build it a meaner sibling. Unveiled at the brand’s Camp RZR bash in the Glamis dunes, the carbon-bodied RZR Pro R Factory Boost is a factory race machine that anyone can order.

The Fury, Uncorked

This past summer, Polaris strapped a turbo to the production Pro R and called it the Boost. It was a 275HP machine billed as the most powerful production side-by-side in the industry. And apparently, that was just the warm-up act.

For the Factory Boost, Polaris’s engineers handed the turbocharged ProStar Fury 2.0L four-cylinder a proper race tune, and the result is an absurd 400HP. For reference, the customer race engines in the outgoing Pro R Factory topped out at 255HP.

Carbon Cut for Triple-Digit Speeds

All that power means very little when the chassis taps out, so Polaris reinforced the frame with larger tubing and stretched the wheelbase 6.5 inches to a full 111.

The cab grew two inches wider under an all-new cage, and the whole affair wears sculpted carbon fiber bodywork. Polaris modeled the shape with computational fluid dynamics at speeds above 100MPH, which explains the arched roofline and a stance that feels more akin to a race car than something ripping through the dunes.

Outlasting the Desert

As we’re well aware, desert racing is truly an endurance game, and the Factory Boost showed up ready to play. Polaris equipped the new model with a 45-gallon fuel cell (up from the old Factory’s 34) which stretches range past 200 miles.

Suspension duty here is handled by 3-inch internal bypass DYNAMIX DV Live Valve shocks with race-specific internals and beefier one-inch shafts. Meanwhile, a FOX steering damper soaks up the big hits before they ever reach your hands. A MoTeC M150 ECU with dual power distribution modules runs the show.
