Ineos has spent the past four years proving the Grenadier is a serious player in the space. The Defender-inspired SUV has been stacking up record sales quarters and even landing European military contracts along the way. So with the serious business handled, the brand has decided it’s earned itself a little fun. The result is Ineos’s first-ever elements-inspired special edition (built squarely for the boat-ramp crowd), and it’s called the 2027 Ineos Grenadier Helmsman Edition.
First of the Fleet
The Helmsman is the opening act in a new run of limited editions themed around the environments the Grenadier was built to tackle, and Ineos decided it was going to go after water first. And it’s going to be offered on both the Station Wagon and the Quartermaster pickup.
The Quartermaster grabbed a Pick-Up Towcar of the Year trophy from the UK’s Camping and Motorhome Club barely two weeks ago, so towing a boat is well within this thing’s comfort zone.
Bespoke Blue, No Waitlist Required
The headline spec here is most definitely the paint. Whiteout Blue, a deep metallic hue previously locked behind the doors of the brand’s bespoke Arcane Works division, now lands on a regular-production Grenadier for the first time. Meanwhile, Eldoret Blue and Scottish White will serve as the standard choices with optional contrast roofs in Inky Black or Scottish White.
Every Helmsman also wears a Dark Exterior Pack (black grille, dark skid plates, and new matte black roof rails), 17-inch diamond-cut alloys, privacy glass, and exclusive edition badging. Inside, oyster-colored inserts break up the black leather, and we’d argue it’s the sharpest cabin Ineos has shipped yet.
Overqualified for Harbor Duty
Mechanically, nothing changes here. The Grenadier’s ladder frame, beam axles, and BMW-sourced turbocharged inline-six were already more than up to the task. The truck is equipped with a 7,716-pound braked towing capacity that’ll haul most trailerable boats with ease.
The rest of the package leans practical. Heated leather seats, carpet mats sitting atop the standard wash-down rubber flooring, a premium sound system for North American buyers, and the Smooth Pack’s ambient lighting, front parking sensors, and auxiliary power points round out the affair.
