When you hear “Segway,” the first image is probably a cluster of tourists in bike helmets following a guy with a flag. And to be fair, we had the same thought.
But the brand has spent the last decade doing its best to rid itself of that reputation under Ninebot, and has been busy branching into power stations, e-scooters, go-karts, and now, an actual electric dirt bike with Dakar Rally pedigree.

Built From the Dakar Up
If the Xaber storyline sounds vaguely familiar, you might’ve seen the Xaber 300’s older sibling, which happens to be the X1000 prototype that ran in Dakar’s experimental low-emissions class in both 2025 and 2026.
The production bike seen here sits on a high-pressure forged aluminum frame and tips the scales at 187 pounds. For context, that’s roughly half what a 250cc gas dirt bike weighs.

The Numbers That Matter
The Xaber 300 puts down 21 kW (about 28 horsepower) through a custom flat-wire mid-drive motor and Segway’s own X720 Titan controller. Top speed is 60 mph, 0–50 happens in 5.5 seconds, and the 72V Samsung-cell battery is good for up to 62 miles in the chillest of three power modes.
The clever bit is how those modes are framed. Segway is advertising the 150, 200, and 300 settings to essentially mimic the power delivery of 150cc, 200cc, and 300cc gas dirt bikes, with a Beast mode for everything and a Pro mode for full custom tuning. The premise here is to have three bikes in one, which is a smart pitch for new riders who’d otherwise outgrow their first machine.

The Clutch That Isn’t a Clutch
The most interesting footnote in the release is what Segway calls a virtual Electronic Clutch, which is basically software that mimics the feel of a real clutch for riders crossing over from gas bikes.
Round it out with adjustable Marzocchi suspension front and rear, 4-piston hydraulic brakes, traction control, regen braking, and a TFT cockpit with GPS and 4G. A virtual wheelie coach is coming via OTA update, which feels right on brand for the Segway we all know and loathe.
