Nissan’s playing the nostalgia card again, and this time they’ve nailed it. The 2026 Z Heritage Edition arrives as a love letter to the twin-turbo 300ZX that dominated the ‘90s sports car scene — complete with Midnight Purple paint that’ll have GT-R fans doing double takes.

Twin Turbo Graphics

The bronze “Twin Turbo” door graphics might seem like obvious fanservice, but the Z32 300ZX’s twin-turbo setup, which was revolutionary when it dropped in 1989. 300hp from a 3.0-liter V6 was borderline magical at the time. These modern Z cars carry that same twin-turbo 3.0-liter formula forward, pushing 400hp in the Heritage Edition’s Performance trim base. The graphics extend to the carbon-fiber rear spoiler, which trades the original’s body-color plastic for something that looks like it belongs on a track-focused build.

The bronze 19-inch Rays wheels deserve special mention too. While the original Z32 didn’t come with Rays from the factory, they were among the first aftermarket upgrades serious owners made.

The Midnight Purple Connection

On the other hand, Midnight Purple wasn’t a Z32 color — it debuted on the 1995 GT-R and became one of the most coveted paints in Japanese performance history. But that’s exactly why it works here. The Heritage Edition is channeling the spirit of ’90s Japanese performance culture, where colors like this represented the pinnacle of automotive cool.

The paint shifts between deep purple and near-black depending on the light, creating the kind of effect that modern metallics rarely achieve. It’s paired with red brake calipers for a dash of contrast.

What You’re Actually Getting

Built on the Z Performance trim, the Heritage Edition includes the mechanical limited-slip differential, Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, and an eight-speaker Bose system. The aforementioned twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 delivers 400hp and 350lb.ft of torque, available with either a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic. Inside, you get Heritage Edition door sill plates and floor mats.

The three gauges atop the dashboard (boost pressure, turbine speed, and battery voltage) are pure Z, referencing similar setups from past generations while serving an actual functional.
